Fuchs wins unanimous decision; advances to semi-finals of U.S. Nationals

Spokane, WA - Ginny Fuchs defeated Karina Sarabia today, in a unanimous decision, in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Boxing Elite National Championships. This is the nation's premier amateur boxing tournament which is used to determine the 2015 national champion at each weight class.

Fuchs will face Alexandra Love in the semifinals on Friday evening at roughly 7:30 p.m. (Central time). Love advanced with a split-decision victory over Amanda Pavone.

This year, the U.S. Boxing Elite National Championships carries even more importance because the top two finishers in the 112, 132, and 165-pound weight classes will automatically qualify for the USA Olympic Trials which will be held during October or November 2015. Fuchs has been the runner-up at the U.S. Nationals each of the past two years. The 2016 Olympics, which will held in Brazil, will only have three weight classes for women's boxing (112, 132, and 165-pound weight classes).
