Fuchs advances to 2nd round of U.S. Olympic Boxing Trials

Memphis, TN (Oct. 26, 2015) – Ginny Fuchs defeated Alexandria Love tonight in the opening round of the U.S. Olympic Boxing Trials. Fuchs, the Houston native who is seeded #2 in the 112-pound Flyweight division, won in a split decision. With the victory, Fuchs improved her career record to 4-0 over Love.

Fuchs will now face Amanda Pavone on Tuesday at 6pm in the second round of the double-elimination tournament which runs through Oct. 31 or Nov. 1. Pavone typically fights at the 119-pound weight class, but since females only box in the 112, 132, and 165-pound weight classes in the Olympic Games, many boxers are fighting up or down from their typical weight class. Fuchs and Pavone have never faced off in competition. (U.S. Army photo)
