USA vs. Germany Duel Matchups Set

The matchups for both nights of the USA vs. Germany Duels in Chattanooga, Tenn. on Oct. 6 and Oct. 12 were announced today by USA Boxing.


The first night of action will consist of 13 exciting bouts with six female and seven male stepping into the ring for Team USA. A full list of matchups can be found below. Five of the six American females will be boxers who just competed in this weekend’s Boxam Tournament in Castellon, Spain, including gold medalists Virginia Fuchs (Kemah, Texas) and Naomi Graham (Colorado Springs, Colo.), silver medalist Rianna Rios (Colorado Springs, Colo.), bronze medalist Oshae Jones (Toledo, Ohio), as well as Stacia Suttles (Bronx, N.Y.). The final member of Team USA boxing that night will be 2017 Youth World Championships team member Sharahya Moreu (Albuquerque, N.M.), who will be making her international elite debut.


On the men’s side, the first night will see four World Championship medalists box, including 2016 Youth World Champion Delante Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio), 2017 Elite World Championship bronze medalist Troy Isley (Alexandria, Va.) and Freudis Rojas Jr. (Las Vegas, Nev.), as well as 2016 Youth World Championships’ bronze medalist Richard Torrez Jr. (Tulare, Calif.). Joining these four boxers are 2018 international gold medalist Keyshawn Davis (Norfolk, Va.), 2017 Elite National Champion Salaam Gonzales (Denver, Colo.) and 2017 Elite National Championships’ silver medalist Raymond Ford (Sicklerville, N.J.).


The second duel will feature all the same female boxers, excluding Fuchs, who will be replaced by two-time World Championships’ bronze medalist and 2018 Boxam Tournament silver medalist Christina Cruz (NewYork, N.Y.).


Gonzales, Isley, Rojas Jr. and Torrez Jr. will be in action once again on the 12th, with 2017 Elite World Championships’ silver medalist Duke Ragan (Cincinnati, Ohio). Filling out the remaining bouts will be 2017 Elite Heavyweight National Champion Jared Anderson (Toledo, Ohio), 2018 Western Qualifier champion Adrian Benton (Cincinnati, Ohio) and 2018 Chemistry Cup gold medalist Khalil Coe (Jersey City, N.J.).


Team Germany will consists of numerous boxers with world championship and other international experience, as well as 2014 Youth Olympic Games Champion Peter Kadiru. Other members include Women’s World Championship medalist Nadine Apetz, European Games medalist Kastriot Sopa and Youth World Championships’ medalist Nelvie Tiafack.


Both rosters and matchups are subject to change.


Boxers and coaches participating in the 2018 Eastern Elite Qualifier & Regional Open Championships will gain free entrance to the Oct. 6 duel. Tickets can be purchased at the door for both duels. Saturday, Oct. 6 duels will be $20 for general admission, while Friday, Oct. 12 duels will be $10 for general admission.
